Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I
have to lie on a table or be undressed for EFT sessions or buy expensive supplements?
No, you remain fully dressed at
all times. The EFT
procedure has you sitting across from the therapist while you tap on stress
release points while talking about your issues. I sell no supplements.
- How
often do I come for sessions?
Clients generally come once
weekly.
- How
many sessions will be needed?
The number of sessions needed
varies with each individual and the complexity of their condition so it is hard
to predict. Benchmarks will be
estimated after the first few sessions.
5. How long is each session?
The initial session may be up to
90 minutes for thorough evaluation.
Sessions thereafter are up to 50 minutes.
- Does
Elaine charge by the minute or by the hour?
No. The initial office session is $95 and sessions thereafter are $65
regardless of duration. All phone EFT
sessions are $70 and generally run one hour.
- Can I
do EFT over the phone?
Yes. EFT phone sessions are offered by appointment. See the tapping points and procedure by
clicking here.
- Are
there any published research studies verifying the effectiveness of EFT?
There is published research about
EFT and its effectiveness in phobia elimination: Wells , J. of Clincal Paychology, 9/2003. The Wells study has been replicated by Dr. A Harvey Baker and his paper is awaiting publication. To read a summary of his results click here.
Anecdotal reports on EFT
effectiveness are numerous.
- Can
infants and young children be treated with EFT ?
Yes. Sometimes this is done with parents acting as surrogates.
- Do I
need to avoid exposure to allergens after allergy elimination sessions?
We believe that allergen avoidance
is usually not necessary for “corrections” to hold.
Gradual exposure to substances in
question may be introduced during a session.
In cases where there is a history of severe allergic reactions, clients
will be cautioned not to resume exposure to that allergen until controlled
serial exposures in the office over some period of weeks has demonstrated a
stable response to the corrections.
- Do I
need to drop traditional medical care and my current medications?
No. EFT is not a substitute for medical treatment. It is helpful to coordinate corrections with
the treatment of your physician or other health care provider. Prescribed medications should be adjusted
and monitored as appropriate by your physician.
- Will
insurance reimburse for these sessions?
No.
- Will I
feel worse before I feel better?
Usually not; but if Infectious
Agents are part of the problem, their “die off” may release toxins that must be
eliminated by the body. We ask the body
to do this at a rate that is safe and comfortable for the individual.
- Will I feel immediate relief from my
symptoms?
Sometimes relief is immediate for
some symptoms. For other folks, the
aspects may be complex and the body may need more time to process the
healing.
16. Does EFT and NMT work on
everything?
Probably not; what does?
- Is this type of health intervention “New
Age” or anti-Christian?
No; to the contrary, some of this
goes back to Chinese medicine over 5000 years ago. On the other hand, the scientific understanding of the quantum
physics involved in the subtle energy patterns of the body is fairly recent.
I am a Christian and see many
Spiritual aspects to this healing process. Many of my Christian clients have
commented on sensing the Holy Spirit moving in them during EFT sessions when
issues were released from deep within.
- How
can I purchase the Conquer Emotional Overeating computer interactive
tools to use EFT for weight
management?
You will be taken directly to
their site for information on payment and how to obtain their tools by
clicking here.
19. Is it absolutely required to order and use their tools? What if I don’t have access to a computer at
home? Can I have phone or office EFT
and work on my eating problems without the computer tools?
I strongly recommend you purchase
and use their tools so you can do self-directed treatments at home and then
discuss these in your individual therapy sessions. This is not an absolute requirement. If on the other hand, you are part of a weight loss therapy
group, all participants are expected to do computer interactive treatments
between group sessions.
- Can or will we incorporate prayer in my
sessions?
At your request, we can
incorporate your prayers and mine and the intercession of others in your
treatment.
